Department of Housing - sale of surplus properties (Operation Aztec)

The ICAC investigated suspected corrupt conduct by a former public official, two real estate agents and possibly others in relation to the sale of surplus properties by the former Home Purchase Assistance Authority and the NSW Department of Housing.

In its report on this investigation, made public on 26 October 2006, the ICAC made corrupt conduct findings against the former officer of the Home Purchase Assistance Authority and the NSW Department of Housing, and the two real estate agents. The ICAC stated its opinion that consideration should be given to obtaining the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions with respect to their prosecution for various offences. The ICAC also made four corruption prevention recommendations to the Department of Housing.
